A good way to show a design idea, hide flaws and irregularities is to paste over the ceiling with wallpaper. Remembering the ancient times, when the ceilings were decorated with intricate drawings by great artists, and sculptors with frescoes, it is somehow sad that for a long time a flat white ceiling was considered the only possible. But ancient ceilings are now considered a model of modern interior design trends.
There are a lot of various ceiling design options, however, in order to make your choice of option, it is important to assess the condition of the ceiling. If there are cracks, nicks or other irregularities on it, it is better, of course, to choose wallpaper. Since plastering and painting the ceiling is one of the most labor-intensive work in the process of repairing a room. To simplify the task, just stick wallpaper on the ceiling.
What wallpaper to choose?
paper wallpaper. Many consider them a relic of the past. They have both advantages and disadvantages. Lights are made of environmentally friendly material and have a low cost – these are the advantages. A short (3-5 years) service life is a disadvantage.
Non-woven wallpaper. This wallpaper has a non-woven backing made from synthetic fibers and cellulose. This distinguishes them from paper. They have one big advantage – they are very easy to stick. Even a non-specialist can handle it. The glue is applied directly to the ceiling and the wallpaper is already glued to it in a dry state.
Vinyl wallpapers. They consist of a substrate made of paper and coated with polyvinyl chloride. The relief surface of such wallpapers perfectly hides cracks and defects in the ceiling. Basically, vinyl wallpapers are used in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, as they can be washed. It is believed that these wallpapers with poor water permeability have already appeared on the building materials market similar wallpapers, but with the presence of micropores. Moisture in the walls evaporates through these micropores.
Fiberglass wallpaper. This is a wallpaper made from dolomite, sand, limestone. They are pressed like paper. Fiberglass wallpapers are considered the most environmentally friendly, because this material prevents the occurrence of fungus and mold and does not absorb dust.
