In most cases, such flooring was made of wood, since this material was light and allowed to keep the air dry. In addition, it was convenient to attach any devices to such a ceiling. Surely, many people know that until the end of the 19th century, baby cradles were hooked on ropes attached to hooks on the ceiling. But in the homes of wealthy people, the ceilings were already covered with a special composition and decorated with various paintings.
