Japanese military space force

In Japan, the Military Space Self-Defense Force will be created, which by 2027 plans to transform from the existing Air Force of the country.

In the future, units specializing in performing reconnaissance tasks from space will begin to operate in the structure of the Japanese Aerospace Forces, the Sankei Shimbun newspaper reports.

In this area, representatives of the island state are going to work closely with the United States. At the beginning of the year, during the US-Japanese consultations in the “two plus two” format with the participation of the heads of foreign policy and defense departments, representatives of Tokyo and Washington agreed that attacks “in space or from space” would fall under the fifth article of the bilateral Security Treaty.

Recall that in accordance with this document, the Americans undertake to defend Japan from the aggression of third countries. During these negotiations, a bilateral agreement was also signed, which covers various areas – from joint space research to landing the first woman on the moon.

Apparently, the Japanese state is seriously preparing for all sorts of scenarios in which the direct participation of the island state in hostilities is not ruled out. Indirectly, this is evidenced by the plans of local authorities to study the issue of subsidizing the construction of private bomb shelters.

Thus, earlier the Japanese company World Net International, which takes orders for the manufacture of bomb shelters, sold an average of about one or two such structures per year. Now she receives ten times more applications for her products.

The structure, which is designed to save a person from a missile or nuclear attack, is a steel capsule about 1.8 meters high with walls about 3.6 centimeters thick. Depending on the type of bomb shelter, it can be placed in an apartment, in a garden or underground and retrofitted for specific purposes. In a small room there is an autonomous power source, an air conditioner and an air purification system, as well as a TV for timely information. The floor is covered with soft tatami, so you can sit or lie there.

However, the shelter does not provide for the placement of a toilet or a refrigerator for storing food. In this regard, you can stay there for no more than two weeks, if you first prepare supplies of drinking water and provisions. This time should be enough for the person to be able to subsequently evacuate to a safer place. As the creators of such bomb shelters say, the only purpose of the design is to keep people alive.
